 TRAINING MADE Fun
Play, engage, achieve

Emotions lead behaviours; Change the emotion & we change the behaviour.
When we train with games, dogs learn as they play.
Magically, in play, dogs learn behaviours that help them succeed in real life.

We work with all behaviours but our specialty lies in assisting dogs that face challenges in navigating real-world situations and require additional support to cope. If you are dealing with an anxious dog whose behaviour on walks causes you stress and upset, such as constant barking and lunging at other dogs, people, joggers, cyclists, cars, and any other triggers, we can provide the guidance you need. We offer customisable solutions, whether you prefer in-person consultations, online sessions, or simply seek guidance to kickstart your journey. Explore our diverse range of courses and valuable resources below to find the right fit for you and your dog - Let the transformation begin!

Magical Transformations for Both Ends of the Lead

p

At Dogwarts K9 Academy, we believe that dog training is more than just teaching commands; it's about fostering a special, almost magical connection between you and your dog.  Our commitment is to harmoniously guide both dogs and their humans so they transform behaviours together with trust.  Our priority is always to set the dog up for success and we do this by working at the pace of the dog, at the level they are at rather than pushing them or putting them in situations they are not ready for.

Our training techniques are based around fun and play as this creates behaviour transformations that goes way beyond obedience.  When dogs learn this way they learn how to manage their emotions in real life situations rather than having to rely on commands from you, this results in a dog that can make great choices.

We understand that dealing with issues like behavioural problems such as anxiety and reactivity in dogs can be challenging but this is our specialism and why we incorporate confidence-building techniques into our training programs for both ends of the lead.  When you are working alongside your dog, we are not only enhancing your skills as a team but also boosting your self-assurance and belief in your ability to train your dog when we are not by your side.

Our training methods emphasise the importance of patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement where the outcome is much improved, calmer behaviour, a stronger bond so your dog wants to interact and work with you, and a newfound confidence in your role as a responsible dog owner.  Our goal is to transform the way you communicate and interact with each other, ultimately leading to a relationship built on trust and understanding.

We tailor our training to meet the specific needs of each dog, helping them overcome challenges such as fear, anxiety, and strong reactions such as pulling, barking and lunging on the lead. We believe that every dog possesses its own unique magic, and our job is to help you to help them shine.

For the human side of the partnership, we equip you with the skills and knowledge to become a skilled handler who can lead with confidence and empathy. The transformation you'll undergo at Dogwarts K9 Academy is not just about having a well-behaved dog; it's about cultivating a relationship based on trust, fun, respect, and a sprinkle of magic.

Whether you're facing specific challenges and seeking individual assistance or interested in joining a group training class, we offer solutions both in person and online. No matter how you choose to train with us, our approach ensures that both you and your dog are supported, nurtured, and empowered throughout the training process.

What Our Clients Say

p

  • ~ Susan  ~  Excellent Dog Trainer -  Tracy is the best dog trainer I have been with and I've had a few dogs so I think I'm qualified to give Tracy the best review I can.  I go to her weekly classes and special 3 weekly sessions on recall, truffle hunting and nervous dog training .  My 3 year old Rottie is a nervous dog but in Tracy's classes she is growing into a much more calm and happy dog.  Because Tracy only uses positive reinforcement along with lots of games the dogs are learning without realising it. The same is for the owners as we learn through these games and the bond with our dogs increases.  If you come to any of her classes you will leave with a smile on your face and be prepared for laughter.  Tracy's insight to dogs behaviour is second to none.  She gets tuned in to your dog and any worries you have so although you are in a class of 4 or 5 your dogs own specific needs are looked at.  Some of the class is spent with Tracy helping us understand why our dogs behave the way they do .  Tracy is simply the best
  • ~ Melanie ~ 5 Star Trainer - I took my 2 year old border terrier, Jeff, to Tracy after he began barking at other dogs after an attack by an off lead dog whilst he was on lead and also another incident where he ran off after a herd of deer! Training is the highlight of his week. Tracy explains things so well and training is fun and really works. Jeff is much calmer and confident now and Tracy has an explained the importance of games based training for stimulating Jeff’s brain. Recently we have undertaken scent training which he also loves. Jeff is not a dog who wanted to engage in discipline based training and that is not something I would have wanted for him. We are on a lifetime training journey. Thanks so much Tracy.
  • ~ Rebecca ~ Fantastic Dog Classes -  We have been with Tracy at Dogwarts for over a year now since Lottie was around 7 months old and we felt ready to give up on her. The fact that Lottie is still with us says a lot. From the start Tracy reassured us that we had a fantastic little dog who would only improve. With the games based training we have really seen results. The classes are really safe environment where I don't feel afraid to voice the problems we have openly. The reason we are still going are that we really enjoy the classes, there are always new things to learn, and old things to improve on (especially for me!).
  • ~ Hayley ~ Fun Experienced Trainer - I have attended training classes with Alfie my very unfocused working cocker and Spud my older boy.  The classes are small and quiet with everything explained thoroughly and a relaxed atmosphere .  I saw a big improvement in Alfie’s focus and our bond is definitely better Tracy is very knowledgeable if any problems crop up. I also attended a scent detective workshop with my older boy once again this was great fun and everyone was successful at the end of the course with their dog finding a lost item.  Great fun and also very helpful.  It’s also taps into a different way to build a bond with your dog. All this is done through force free positive association so the dog doesn’t even realise they are training.  I will be doing more courses in the future.  Tracy is highly recommended.
  • ~ Beverley ~ What's Right for Your Dog - Lottie is a rescue cocker spaniel with all that that means, nervous, insecure, disobedient, inclined to take no notice of me as her new owner.  At first we went to a dog training place, with pleasant people, but oh dear, it was much too noisy and busy for Lottie.  All she wanted to do was play with other dogs, totally ignoring me. it wasn't much fun.  So it was with much joy that we found Tracy Hancock. Quiet, small, gentle classes, with other people and their dogs, who also appreciated Tracy's encouraging and thoughtful ways of training.  We have much fun now.  Lottie enjoys the training as much as I do and has become much more interactive.
